Conversation Tables
Each Conversation table has a different theme such as Movies, Books, Relationships, Culture, Tech, Dining, Humor, Random Chat, Artists, Networking, Writers, Harry Potter, Pets, Weather, and Vacations.

Each table has a deck of cards with a different topic on each card. Each card is turned over one at a time. People talk about the topic as they wish until everyone who wants to talk is finished. Then the next card is turned over. For example, for the Movie Table, topic cards include “Your favorite movie?” “Your favorite actor?” “Your worst movie experience?” “Your favorite theatre” “Your favorite movie snack?”. Similar topic cards decks are set on each conversation table. You may participate or just listen. You may join or leave any table at any time. There is a host at each table to answer questions.
Movies Table May 26 -a table each for Spiderman III, Shrek III, Pan's Labyrinth, movies in general.

Script read-alouds
reading aloud scripts from TV, plays, movies, such as the Simpsons, Seinfeld, Friends, Mash, All in the Family, Hamlet, Shakespeare in Love,Buffy, Coupling, American Beauty. There are many scripts on the table. Pick one that you would like to read aloud. Select a table, invite others to join in. Everyone selects a character, and start reading aloud.

Food Sampler There is a different food sampler each Social Sampler. Some food sampler themes are ice creams, chocolates, coffees, potato chips, cookies. Odd Ice Creams with be sampled for May 26: Avacado, Buko (Baby Coconut), Ginger, Green Tea, Halo Halo (Buko, Langka, Ube, Pineapple, Mongo &Sweet Beans), Langka (also known as Jackfruit, a relative of the Fig), Lychee, Mango, Thai Tea, Sweet Coconut, and Ube (purple Yam).

Costumers Club activities include swap or sell fabric, clothing, or costumes' sewing circle talk; or meet potential new clients about new costumes, tuxes, or gowns; or finish a costume in a 'stitch and bitch' session. This is a group for costumers and seamstresses who make costumes, gowns, wedding dresses, and clothing for such events as Renaissance Faire, Dickens Faire, Science Fiction costume masquerade balls, Halloween balls and events, Sea of Dreams NYE, Anon Salon events, Costume cons, Belly Dancers outfits, Greater Bay Area Costume Group events, Art Deco's Gatsby picnic, Newport Week, San Francisco Waltzing Society, Friday Night Waltz New Year's Eve formal Waltz Balls, Peers and Gaskells formal balls.

Sing alongs
Sea Shanteys are songs traditionally sung by sailors to accompany and set the rhythm for certain kinds of heavy, repetitive work on board ship—raising and trimming the sails, raising the anchor, and working the pumps.

Musicals are the songs from musical plays and movies, such as Sound of Music, Grease, Singing in the Rain, Brigadoon, Hair, My Fair Lady, Oklahoma, Guys and Dolls.

Folk songs are just that: traditional folk songs.

Dawn, the Key, and Buffy

Here's what I don't get about season five and the whole Dawn thing. O.K. so Dawn is the key that will open Glory's hell dimension on earth. Her blood starts to open the portal, then Buffy jumps in to stop it. Why does Buffy's leap into the portal close it? I just don't get it . . . she sacrifices herself to save Dawn, that I understand. I just don't see why Buffy closes the gate while Dawn opens it. Could someone clear me up on this? Did I miss something somewhere?

Angel and Cordy

I was just watching some Season 3 Angel, in particular the episode at the ballet where Angel and Cordy get all 'possessed' in the dressing room. Ummm...hot? Anyway, I just thought I would open it up for discussion: How do we feel about that pair? Given that Buffy is supposed to be 'the love of his life' etc., how much did we all get behind Angel and Cordelia Chase in love? I for one was very opposed at the beginning, but by the end of the series I was so sad they couldn't be together. Damn you Joss! And damn you Fox Network!!

Last night

So, what did everyone think? I think the way they ended Cordelia's role was really clever. Plus, (I'm not one for the whole romance thing) but it was good they finally friggen kissed! Geez! And, I have to say, Christain Kane is so DAMN HOT! I might actually have had my jaw on the ground the entire time he was on the screen. And, he sings...ok, more on that some other time. Yes, it was nice to see Lorne have something to do even if it was giving blood. And, lastly, glad to see they figured out that Eve was Evil! I hope that's the last we see of her. I never liked her character.

...think that "Why We Fight" (submarine episode) really sucked? It seemed to really drag, and I just couldn't get into it at all. Even Spike, pre-soul, seemed really badly out of character compared to the vamp that appeared in Sunnydale to compete with the Master's minions. That and the bad dye job...

Final Episodes

I just got done watching the final episodes of Angel today. I had set my VCR to tape them all. Of course, I couldn't watch them after taping because my VCR has been acting all wonky and I didn't want to jeopardize the recordings.

I have to say that the last six episodes were good. What I didn't get though, was the second to last one. All of a sudden we have this Circle of the Black Thorn introduced, and then Drogen appears and gets dispatched without much in the way of explanation for how he knows Hamilton or why Angel killed him with such ease. I mean, in the last episode the entire thing doesn't even get brought up. Angel basically murdered his friend and he doesn't even seem phased by it, as though it was just something he had to do like take a shower or change his socks. What gives?

I'm not sure if I have words. I knew, and almost wanted, Wes to be the one "not to make it" since he really had nothing left to live for having gone crazy with grief and all. But even though I had logically come up with him as the one to die and prepared myself for it, it was still amazingly sad to watch.

And yet somehow Illyria was able to make me laugh just a few minutes later when she stood in the rain and asked to do more violence. I didn't expect to like that character so much.

If they end up not doing a movie, I will be incredibly pissed off. I don't like not knowing how things will turn out... even though you just KNOW they would win anyway. I guess it was a good way to end the show - leave you on the edge just in case an opportunity arises for them to continue and finish it for real, but still leave you at a place where you know they will be victorious and heroic so you don't feel let down should no movie be made.....

Hey all, I'm gonna go through and delete some old bulletins. Like the ones about petitions to save Angel, since we all know Angel hasn't been saved there's no more use for those bulletins. If any petitions come up about making a Movie, that'd be awesome - but I just accidentally changed subjects.
Anyway, just wanted to give a heads-up. I'm all for keeping things for a really long time in case someone new wants to make a comment, but there's stuff from 8 months ago that I just know nobody is gonna bother with.

Story ideas I'd like to throw out

I have this story idea, about the origins of the first Slayer and why there used to be only one per generation until Buffy came along:

Season four's finale and season seven established that the first Slayer was chosen by the shamen, the magic-users of her tribe to be champion against the vampires, demons and other creatures of the night. And it is not looked upon favorably by the spirit of old #1 that this tradition be disrupted.

If you've read Robert Graves' two volume "the Greek Myths," you may know that before the rise of the Greek and Hebrew empires humanity was a female-dominated society.

So what if the first Slayer was the chieftess of her tribe, and therefore the logical choice for being its protector from the creatures of the night? What if she directed the shamen to imbue her with the demons' strength, and their ability to divine the future through visions? What if she was an unstable, power-hungry sociopath (which is not without precedent) who did not want to share the power she had gained? And what if the shamen, realizing the dangers of having so many Slayers at one time and playing on their chieftess' ego, came up with that whole "only one per generation" thing as a safety system?

So the premise of a possible BTVS movie based on the TV series would be, what if the spirit of #1 grew enraged at the shattering of this fragile balance by Buffy, and decided to exact a punishment of some kind?

Think about it. Kendra and Faith were/are anomolies (sp?); when Buffy died the second time I don't think another Slayer was chosen, the balance was preserved that way. No other Slayer seemed to have appeared during the last two seasons of the show, so I assume that this is the case. But what if having completely shattered the balance, Buffy is made to face the consequences of that decision? I think that is a pretty decent story idea.

What do the rest of you think?

A little PS2 gameshark help, please.

I have a problem I'm hoping someone can help me with.

I have "BTVS - Chaos Bleeds" for PS2, and a gameshark version 2 for that system.

Problem: none of the codes I have found seem to work. Cheatcc.com doesn't have any working codes, and neither does the gameshark.com website (I'm guessing the codes are for version 3). In fact, it has been a real problem trying to find gameshark codes for that game anywhere.

So, does anyone know of any working gameshark 2 version 2 codes? Or am I going to have to break down and buy the version 3 upgrade, which I really can't afford right now?

So I re-watched this week’s episode before work this morning. I think Illyria has feelings toward our man Wes, not those feelings, as in Wes and Fred type feelings; but feelings of admiration even friendship (as much friendship and old one could understand). Notice how disappointed she is that Wes no longer acknowledges her existence, after her turn as Fred to appease the Burkel’s. Now think back to all of their interaction up until that point, when she wasn’t pulling a Buffy-type monologue about how things were in her time, Wes was really the only person she listened to at all. Granted we can’t really discuss this at length due to the fact that our remaining favorite show on the air, is bidding a found farewell next week. It just makes me think this is one of the many storylines they could have given more depth, had the show not been canceled. It’s Friday and I’m out of here, so watch those dvd's and have a good weekend.

I really think I am going to CRY when Angel next week. I has just hit me how much my life has revolved aroung Buffy and Angel. I was ok with Buffy ending becaouse I knew Angel would be there. But now its not. Who knows if there will be a movie. I have realized that I have been watching Buffy realated shows since I was in high school, now I am 24. Okay, so we all know that certain dialogue in Angel and Buffy tends to repeat itself and have some extra meaning that nobody notices until later. So here is another, I was just looking for something and realized that this quote was from the Angel episode "Soul Purpose" where Angel is having hallucinations..

Angel: What's wrong?
Fred: Nothing. I can't seem to find anything wrong with you. I mean . . . except that you're empty. There's nothing left. Just a shell.

Funny how Fred is now just a shell, huh? This is one of the many kinds of things that always made me love these shows.

I was afraid that the return of Connor would turn him back into annoying-angry-psycho-boy again, so I was pleasantly surprised when he got his memories back and still stayed sane. I don't know about the rest of you, but I have been so incredibly bored with all of my favorite shows being on hiatus that I've started reading the synposis on every episode at www.tvtome.com, and of course they have a short description of what the next Angel will be about. It's just too vague for me, though, and I like to be able to guess how an episode will end. So what do you all think will happen throughout the end of Angel? I think for the first time ever, I can't imagine what they will do.

WB has canceled Angel, this will be the last and final season. Joss has been given ample notice so he may be able to tie up lose ends and device a proper ending.

Sorry to hear it, maybe Buffy will make an appearance now?

Did anyone see the little article in TV guide about the series finale? Do you think that they'll have Sarah Michelle Geller come back? Joss Wheaton was also quoted saying that he might kill everyone off. Dude, he already killed all the girls, what do you think he has planned?

Who really deserves Buffy?

I'm pretty sure they AREN'T going to address this, but it seems like Spike and Angel are fighting for Buffy as if the winner would actually win her. Now, though I think between them, Spike EARNED his soul, where as Angel's was a curse.......but ya know, the one character that has been the most loving of Buffy, the most valiant......when it comes down to it, Xander is really the one that deserves her. What do you think?

Buffy Reruns

I have a routine in the mornings where I watch Buffy on FX and then switch to Charmed on TNT (and after work it's Angel and then Charmed, man I'm lame). Anyway, FX just finished season 7 of Buffy and it managed to remind me how much I hated the character of Kennedy. Like she was introduced to give Willow support but she only managed to make Willow act codependant. That and everytime I saw Kennedy's face I wished the show was real just so I could smack her.

New episode

Hey, group. Just wanted to write about last night's episode. I found myself really depressed at the end. Who knew that I would actually grow to like Fred only to have her character given the boot? And, who knew Wesley would kick so much ass by stabbing Gunn and shooting Knox? Shesh! This is what it'll look like in the end, I guess. I really thought Willow as going to make a guest appearance and save the day. Sad sad Fred.

The puppet episode

I gotta say, I really liked that episode. Just the right amount of freaky deaky (the beginning kid freaked me out and the puppet who made the puppet out of the man...ech!) and funny. How fantastic was the ending with Fred and then with Angel as the puppet taking out that girl. And, I loved that Angel said he had a felt nose and then took it off his face.

Fred's sexyness

Someone at work pointed this out to me. Have you noticed that since Charisma Carpenter got pregnant, they've made Fred wear all these short skirts and sit in sexy positions? She barely even speaks in any of the episodes anymore. She's just supposed to sit there and look pretty.
