I'm not sure if I have words. I knew, and almost wanted, Wes to be the one "not to make it" since he really had nothing left to live for having gone crazy with grief and all. But even though I had logically come up with him as the one to die and prepared myself for it, it was still amazingly sad to watch.
And yet somehow Illyria was able to make me laugh just a few minutes later when she stood in the rain and asked to do more violence. I didn't expect to like that character so much.
If they end up not doing a movie, I will be incredibly pissed off. I don't like not knowing how things will turn out... even though you just KNOW they would win anyway. I guess it was a good way to end the show - leave you on the edge just in case an opportunity arises for them to continue and finish it for real, but still leave you at a place where you know they will be victorious and heroic so you don't feel let down should no movie be made.....

Re: The End
Thu, May 20, 2004 - 9:11 AMI agree. The show was sad and I also was prepared for someone to die. I knew it would be Wes. But I did leave the show laughing. I love Angel saying "I have always wanted to slay a dragon". That was great

Re: The End
Thu, May 20, 2004 - 5:28 PMI wasn't too pleased with that phony, pretentious "thank you" from the WB tacked on at the end. It was like, "sure we cancelled the show because we're dicks and we felt like screwing over Whedon & Co. And yes, we turned a completely deaf ear to fans (not to mention rising Neilson ratings). Oh, and we loved the show so much that we pre-empted it for five weeks in favor of lame Smallville re-runs. But we thank you for watching, anyway."
I agree with Illyria; I wish to do violence. But I'll just settle for never watching the WB ever again.

Re: The End
Fri, May 21, 2004 - 8:21 AMAnyone think that five minutes after the ending of the show there was a huge army of Slayers marching on Los Angeles as well? I can't imagine that there wouldn't be some balance - that much evil concentrated in one place without a counterbalance. -

Fri, May 21, 2004 - 10:18 AMooh that's a good idea. Maybe that's what the movie will do if it ever gets made. Makes total sense. -

Sat, May 22, 2004 - 2:04 PMRelax, I was joking. Sorry if I failed to make that clear. I was having an insane moment brought on by too much caffeine and 'Invader Zim' reruns on Nickelodeon. -

Re: The End
Tue, June 22, 2004 - 11:57 AMHey Everyone,
I'm jumpin' in on this thread a little late. I have to agree that the WB sucks now! There is hardly anything worth watching anymore. No Buffy. No Angel. I was very sad when Wesley died. I felt they totally left the ending open for the so-called movie. Who know's if that will ever come to pass.
